I'm starting to do some new stuff. I've done a large variety of software stuff in the past, but now I'm having to do some hardware stuff. First is something semi-easy, its repacing a noisy fan. I have done some similar things ages ago, but haven't done anything like this recently. The second thing is definately on the edge of my comfort zone, its soldering. While I've done some hardware prototyping in the past, its all been for lightweight hobby projects which were very basic proofs of concept, and nothing that would need to hold together for any amount of time. As my eventual target is the PiDP/11 assembly, one important outcome is decent soldering skills. While I understand the theory, I have to actually practice and get a basically decent proficiency to move forward. So, I bought a soldering kit and will have a go at that.
