Pi update Jul 2023

Well, after a long number of months, it finally looks like we're getting a bit of movement on the Raspberry Pi supply chain. I checked today and the stores that were green (had stock available now) stretched all the way onto the second page. Contrast that with 3 or 4 entries from various parts of the world having any current stock, and things are looking better.

I did manage to put in a couple of orders, and snagged an 8GB Pi4 and a Pi Zero W, and I feel like I can actually start to do some new projects without fear of having to wait multiple months if I need another board.

Now, things aren't perfect -- for the closest store that sells Pi products to me, while they have had stock of certain items for days at a time, it's not like you can pick and choose -- right now, only the older Pi3 boards and the Zero Ws are listed, for instance. And I haven't seen any Zero 2W boards listed in north america at all, and that was one I wanted to try out at least.

So, while the situation is improving and I hope the massive upcharges on eBay are going to disappear, there is a ways until we don't have to worry about ordering. Right now, I think it might still take a month or so for stock to be there, but this is better than before when some lead times were listed at "1 year plus". So, planning is important in getting boards.
