Rethinking and redeploying

I have a few computers kicking around; actually, too many of them. And I'm not doing a good job at managing, and I haven't done a good job at not getting more until I clean up. So I'm going to retrench and pivot, and try to get better at all of this on the fly.

There is a lot of hardware stuff to try and fiddle with, for sure. But I also have some designs in lab and VM/software areas. One thing I want is to build a small lab, where I can play with things. It shoud be switchable between Kubernetes and VMs and running Unix or even Windows. I'd even like to try and build a MAME system.

I also want to be bold and reshape how I'm running things. Right now, I have a few very impotprtant pet machines, right now run on a specific physicsl host. I'd like to make my systems more cattle like, though. First step here is to do some divisions of responsibility. I have some management bits, and they should run on a management VM. I have a bunch of development bits, and I have built a dev box. Then I have what I call a prod box, but its actually my do-everything box. I also need to figure out what should go where, and work on decoupling things where I can.

I'd like to get to the spot where this is all IaC, but first lets get some things working and then work on getting it backed up and finally at automating the spin up. I do like this step-by-srep approach.
